Kevin Carlson: Bio

A native of Georgia, Kevin grew up in Denver where he was first exposed to his early influences of Dan Fogelberg, Joni Mitchell and Kenny Loggins. After leaving Denver for the Atlanta area in 1981, Kevin played in numerous rock bands but returned to his roots in acoustic folk-rock music. After taking a multi-year break from music to focus on another career, Kevin actively returned to recording in 2005 and performing in 2007. His recent songs have charted on several internet charts and have received great reviews from local music writers.

In October 2008, five of Kevin’s songs were selected by MTV, Oxygen and E! to be used on a number of their television shows. All of these songs can be heard on his debut CD release, Museum. Additionally, Kevin’s music has charted on Internet music charts such as UBL.com, where he held the #1 pop artist spot for 8 weeks in early 2009.

Since the mid-70's, he has primarily played 12-string acoustic and has written the vast majority of his material on that instrument. He also plays piano, bass, mandolin along with a few other instruments and usually can be heard playing most of the parts on his recordings. His folk-rock and folk-pop music is written about experiences that have left an impression on him and have a commonality with life experiences we have all faced.

Museum is available online at CDBaby and on iTunes and other online retail outlets. Kevin is back in the studio recording songs for his second CD due out in early 2010.
